Thomas Hughes

Thomas is a people-person engaged and inspired by the opportunity to help his clients identify and implement solutions to hard-to-solve problems. Thomas’s elder law practice is focused on Medicaid planning, life care planning, estate planning, and probate. During his time at LawyerLisa, Thomas has amassed significant experience conducting client meetings and managing files in each of LawyerLisa’s practice areas. Thomas conducts consultations, identifies issues, and guides his clients in accessing government benefits like Medicaid, in preserving assets while accessing care, in planning for death and incapacity, and in transferring assets through probate.

Thomas grew up in Laurens, South Carolina. Thomas graduated from Winthrop University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and language, and, in 2021, Thomas graduated from the University of South Carolina Joseph S. Rice School of Law cum laude.

Thomas is an active member of the South Carolina Bar’s Elder Law Committee.

When not at work, Thomas enjoys playing golf, running, and any other activity that gets him outside.
